BorderCrossings ... with Ernst & Young's transfer pricing and tax professionals

The impact of transfer pricing adjustments on customs valuation

To help you stay informed and able to adapt to an increasingly uncertain and challenging global tax environment, Ernst & Young is pleased to bring you this seventeenth installment of BorderCrossings - our monthly webcast series devoted to transfer pricing and related tax issues.

Transfer pricing issues and increased government enforcement of customs valuation have made coordination of these issues increasingly important. Recent economic events have produced more government- and taxpayer-initiated transfer pricing adjustments. New guidance on using transfer pricing methodologies to support customs valuation should assist in the coordination. This panel will explore the overlap between transfer pricing and customs valuation issues, the impact of transfer pricing adjustments on customs valuation, and taxpayer compliance strategies to minimize negative outcomes and qualify for duty refunds.

This webcast will address issues such as:

  • How a transfer pricing adjustment impacts import duties and import taxes such as the GST
  • Impact of transfer pricing adjustment on US IRC Section 1059A
  • Customs Voluntary Disclosure Program options (Canada)
  • Best practices for reporting transfer pricing adjustments to the authorities
  • Seeking duty refunds based on downward transfer pricing adjustment

During this live, interactive webcast, you will have the opportunity to ask questions through the website and the panelists will answer as many of your questions as time permits.

This program will be of interest to vice presidents/directors of tax/international tax/transfer pricing/customs/global trade, directors of finance, CFOs, international tax managers and tax accountants looking for the latest practical information and guidance to support their global business initiatives. We hope you will be able to join us!
