Paving the Way:

Insights on Infrastructure in the Americas - An Emerging Asset Class

Hosted by: The Ernst & Young Global Real Estate Center

The ability to build, maintain, and finance infrastructure is more important today than ever. Infrastructure remains top of mind with many real estate investors and governmental bodies around the world. Having adequate infrastructure in place is a critical component to any thriving economy.

At the same time, worldwide costs to build and modernize infrastructure have soared to record levels. To help fund infrastructure investments and to share risks, governments increasingly are reaching out to the private sector. The huge capital demands of large-scale infrastructure projects around the world ? estimated to run into the trillions (USD) over the next decade ? will likely create intense competition among governments to attract private investment.

Infrastructure is a complex investment. As a result, investors must have a clear understanding of the political, economic, financial and operational risks associated with this type of investment -- and thorough due diligence is essential.
