Jurjan Wouda Kuipers is a member of Ernst & Young LLP's Tax Services practice in New York, where he serves on the Luxembourg Tax Desk. Jurjan frequently advises US multinationals on the tax aspects of centralizing European holding, financing or licensing activities in Luxembourg, as well as on the tax implications of pan-European acquisition strategies, mergers and joint ventures.
Jurjan has over 20 years of experience in both Europe and the US. He has worked on a variety of international tax matters, including providing tax advice in connection with the structuring of mergers and acquisitions, cross-border investments and reorganizations, real estate transactions and cross-border financial instruments.
Jurjan is also the US-based representative of Ernst & Young's European Union (EU) Competency Group, a network of individuals from EY Global member firms who closely follow pan-European developments, such as the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base proposal and the European Court of Justice cases and their impact.
Jurjan holds three master's degrees: Tax Law, Corporate Law and Individual (Private) Law). He is a frequent speaker on EU and Luxembourg tax matters, both at firm-sponsored events and events sponsored by organizations such as the Tax Executives Institute, European American Tax Institute and the International Fiscal Association. Jurjan has authored several published articles.
