Brian Edey is a Partner with Ernst & Young Ltd and is currently based in Zurich, Switzerland. He leads the European Actuarial Services approach to advising companies on Financial Reporting.

Brian has extensive experience on financial reporting and in particular in the implementation and review of market consistent measures. He also has significant knowledge on financial reporting for Insurance companies under IFRS and US GAAP. He has been involved with IFRS since the Draft Statement of Principles was issued in 2001.

Brian advises global insurance companies on the implications of Phase II of the insurance contract standard and he provides actuarial due diligence and valuation assistance.

Hans van der Veen is a Senior Manager with Financial Accounting Advisory Services of Ernst & Young Accountants LLP. Based in Amsterdam, Hans has over ten years experience auditing and providing accounting advice to various clients in the insurance sector.

Hans joined the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) in 2008 as a staff member on the Insurance Project. During this secondment from Ernst & Young, he was part of the IASB's insurance team and became the project manager responsible for developing the Exposure Draft on Insurance Contracts.

Hans also has Finance Transformation expertise, focusing on diagnostics and impacts analysis for IFRS 4 Phase II accounting changes and interaction with Solvency II.

Niek de Jager leads Ernst & Young's insurance group in The Netherlands. He has been with Ernst & Young Accountants LLP for more than 30 years. Niek is actively involved in many aspects of the insurance industry, that provides him with a broad understanding of the operation of insurance companies and the systems that they run. He is regularly involved with due diligence engagements on insurance companies throughout the world. Niek has a doctorate in financial reporting. He is a regular contributor to the Dutch insurance market in the form of writing books and articles.
