Katherine Pinzon is Ernst & Young LLP's leader for Transfer Pricing relating to South America. Based in Miami, Florida, Katherine is experienced in designing and managing transfer pricing documentation and designing and implementing transfer pricing and international restructuring for major multinational corporations organized in Latin America.
Katherine has more than 12 years of experience as a transfer pricing advisor and is experienced in the development and management of transfer pricing audits in Venezuela and Colombia. She previously worked for another Big Four accounting firm in Venezuela, leading that firm's transfer pricing practice there. Katherine has worked extensively in the management of transfer pricing audits for clients in the oil and pharmaceutical industries and has developed strong defenses for her clients' documentation projects.
Prior to joining Ernst & Young LLP, Katherine worked as a tax specialist at the National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service of Venezuela (SENIAT). As a member of the internal legal counsel team at SENIAT, she participated in the development of the Venezuelan transfer pricing rules (1994 2000).
Katherine received a Juris Doctor in Law from the Central University of Venezuela and a Master of Laws and International Tax Certificate from Harvard Law School. International Tax Review selected her as one of the leading Venezuelan transfer pricing advisors in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. She was also named in Euromoney's "Guide to the World's Leading Tax Advisers" in 2005, 2007 and 2009. Most recently, Katherine was named in Euromoney's "2010 Guide to the World's Leading Women in Business Law" as one of the top female legal practitioners in the international legal market. She is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences sponsored by the Venezuelan and Colombian tax administrations as well as trade and industry associations in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador.
